The Bureau of Agricultural Research is mandated with the responsibility of coordinating the institutionalization of a sound and responsive R&D information system and sustainable communication strategies for agriculture and fisheries sectors. The fundamental concern is the dissemination of timely, reliable, and comprehensive information to ensure that R&D thrusts are scrupulously considered in the formulation of policies, plans, and programs.
To institutionalize this primary concern, the Agriculture and Fisheries Research and Development Information System (AFRDIS) was modeled. It is an information network of institutions that are engaged in research and development in agriculture and fisheries. The goal of the network is to provide a coordinated and proactive environment for cooperation and partnership on information exchange and dissemination on a global basis.
